Working Holiday

  • I work while I am on holiday

This time it was in Barcelona. 3 weeks on the road. Sweden, Barca, Cantabria, Basque.

By the time I got to Barcelona I was missing the studio. But I remembered that a producer I had worked with online, was based somewhere near Barcelona. So I dropped him a line. Sebastian Sendon is his name. He did the drum programming on ‘Fall Into Place’, as well as the swelling string section at the end. I met Sebastian in a bar in Gracia and organised a vocal session for the following day. I then went back to my hostel, half an hour walk down the hill, and wrote, and prepared for the session. Sometimes a deadline is just what you need to be productive. Not all the time, but sometimes.

We had a great 3 hour session. Recording vocals is not something I like doing alone, and Sebastian was a great vocal producer.

Travelling is something I often like to do alone as it gives me time to recollect my life, and settle my thoughts and sounds. This little burst of work in Barcelona was timely and valuable.

Next trip… I might seek out another local producer. And if I go to Iceland.. I know who that will be.
