Since I got back from Australia my left brain has taken over and I am putting things to bed. money is sorted, flat is sorted, gigs are sorted, Inbox is clear. I’m getting back into London rhythms.
It’s a good place to be. It’s a very controlled place to be. Each day is pretty much mapped out.
After 2 gigs up North this weekend, it’s back to the studio on Sunday night. Next week David Carr will be working for me in Melbourne. I have Dean Glass editing some Boyband sounding tracks. Even when I’m not being creative, the music is pushing forward. I’m learning that I can delegate. I don’t have to be a jack of all trades. The freedom that comes from giving up control and letting a professional do their thing is liberating.
I am involved in many different projects. As well as writing, recording and managing my original music and this website, I run 2 online businesses, manage a team at London Bicycle and write monthly audit reports. People ask how I have the time to do it. It’s easy. Delegate what others can do for you.
As I lie here about to go to sleep, tomorrow is all planned. 8.50 train to Leicester, Open my mail and pick up some paperwork while I check my flat, bus to Coventry, Drive to Liverpool, gig, Hotel booked, gig in New Brighton, Drive back London, Sunday sleep in and afternoon off before studio at 8pm. To be on the road a lot (7 gigs this month) I need to have everything organised. I am ok to live out of a suitcase. It works for me.
But I love my bed.
